Quilt Show 2027 Teaser

Every 2 years the Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild holds a judged quilt show on the Mother's Day weekend in May which features the talents of our members. (See quilts from past shows)

The dates and theme for our next show have now been announced! Full details will be provided later, but members can get started right now on entries for the President's Challenge (see below).

The 2027 Quilt Show President’s Challenge

Every OVQG quilt show has a President’s Challenge, and the 2027 show will be no different. This year's challenge theme is “To the Moon and Back.”

Requirements are as follows:

  • Design a quilted wall hanging featuring at least one celestial body such as (but not limited to) a star, moon, spaceship, or comet.
  • The top can be constructed in any manner. It can be traditionally pieced, paper pieced, appliquéd, embroidered, collage, improv ... anything you want!
  • The celestial body can be any colour you like, but the wall hanging must contain the colours yellow and blue.
  • Your quilt must have a perimeter of no less than 40" and no more than 100”.
  • It must be constructed in three layers, and have a binding.
  • The quilt must have a hanging sleeve and a label on the back containing the quilt maker’s name and title of the quilt.

Your Co-Presidents will evaluate the quilts based on visual appeal, not necessarily technical merit. This will be fun and we look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

Also (and this is the best part) there are prizes: 1st place receives $75; 2nd $50; and 3rd place $25!
