If you’ve ever wanted to dive into quilting, but didn’t know where to start, this is the place! We are pleased to offer again this workshop for beginner or novice quilters. You will learn Piecing, i.e. the construction of some basic units used in quilt designs. Students will learn about choosing and prepping fabric, the basics of rotary cutting, pressing technique and the 1/4" seam, half-square triangles (HSTs), 4-patches, 9 patches and flying geese. If time permits, we will cover and square-in-a-square. Our Instructor is Anne Rankin. Thanks so much Anne! Note: This is a Techniques Workshop for Beginners. No actual quilts will be completed. If you are concerned about having enough supplies, please reach out to workshops@ottawavalleyquiltersguild.org. We can likely work out a way to get some extras for you to borrow during the class.
Everyone will have a separate 6' table. Masks are not mandatory but health officials are still recommending we use them to stay safe. It's your choice but please respect other people's decisions.
The kitchen is available for making tea or coffee. There is also a full kitchen with a fridge and microwave for housing lunch.
