Preparing for Your Workshop

To get the most out of your workshop, please read the supply list carefully to ensure you are fully prepared.

Each supply list describes:

  • the workshop date and time,
  • the workshop venue,
  • supply or kit fees (where applicable),
  • additional supplies you need to bring,
  • any preparation required before the class starts, and
  • the instructor's contact information.

To get the supply list for your workshop:

  • find your workshop in the calendar above and click the "Show details" link, or
  • email the workshop coordinator and request the supply list.

Attending a Workshop on Zoom

Ensure that you have installed and tested the Zoom application on your device (i.e. computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) several days before the workshop.

  • The best way to do this is find a couple of friends with Zoom and set up a chat session so you can ensure your equipment is working properly.

  • The guild's Zoom Events Help page contains helpful information for people who are new to Zoom, including how to contact the OVQG's Zoom Team if you need assistance.

Other tips to improve your experience:

  • Place your device in your sewing room where you can clearly see the instructor on screen, and where you can show them your work during the day.

  • Be sure to turn off the camera on your device if you move it from one location to another during class, as this might be distracting to others in the class.

  • Also, be sure to turn off your microphone if there is distracting noise at your location, such as a dog barking to go out.
